Held in Mosier, Oregon.

We will feature 3 techniques of Raku.
  • Luster and Patina Glazing
  • Horsehair/Ferric Chloride
  • Naked Raku
  • Crackle Glazing

Attendees sign up to bring 1-4 pieces of their own bisque fired pots to design and fire.

Don't have any pots ready, but curious about Raku? Premade burnished pots can be ordered when registering.

*All work must be made with Raku Clay or oven proof stoneware. Pots can be hand built or wheel-thrown. (12” tall x 4” wide or smaller) Only 1 larger piece per person.

Those attendees who wish to try out a Horsehair/Ferric Cloride fire should burnish greenware when leather-hard and add 3 coats of terra siglatta on bone dry greenware before bisque firing for best results.

Attendees should wear closed toe shoes or boots, long pants and long sleeves are a must. Natural fibers best. Safety gear will be provided for pulling pots out of the kiln.

More details on the curriculum and pre-work provided for attendees well in advance of the workshop. Water, coffee, and tea provided.

Class may run over to finish firing all work.
